The top three large cruise ships in Conde Nast Traveler’s prestigious 2013 Readers’ Poll each have two distinctive black and red funnels, black hulls highlighted with a bright yellow stripe and each is decorated with mouse ears as a design element.
That’s right: The top three large cruise ships in the world, according to the poll, all belong to the Disney Cruise Line.
The Disney Magic ranks No. 1, followed closely by the Disney Wonder and the Disney Dream. The Disney Fantasy came in at No. 8 in the poll.
It’s an impressive honor, especially when you consider that DCL is relatively new to the cruise industry (the Magic debuted in 1998, the Wonder in 1999, the Dream, in 2011 and the Fantasy in 2012) and, even more noteworthy, is the fact that Disney only has a fleet of four ships.
Carnival leads the pack with 24 ships, followed by Royal Caribbean (22); Princess (16); Holland America (15); Costa (14); Celebrity (11) and Norwegian (11).
Equally impressive is the fact that the rankings are based on actual cruisers’ opinions, not just cruise critics.
Disney Cruise Line guests obviously have been impressed with DCL’s ships, their diverse itineraries, legendary guest service, great food and unmatched entertainment.
“With four ships in our fleet, more families than ever before can set sail on an a Disney Cruise Line vacation filled with imaginative fun for the kids and exciting family time for all,” said Karl Holz, president of Disney Cruise Line.
“We’re thrilled that the experiences our cast and crew members deliver at sea continue to be recognized as outstanding by our guests.”
