Every Role a Starring Role – Pastry Sous Chef at Disneyland Resort

For the past 19 years, Pastry Sous Chef Nubia Renteria has been honing her confectionary craft with support from her mentor, Executive Pasty Chef Jorge Sotelo. Nubia began her Disney journey working at the Disneyland Hotel, crafting delicious pastries for guests, and then transitioned to the opening pastry team for Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. Today, Nubia passes on the wisdom she’s gained to mentees building their careers at the resort.

For Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, Nubia and her team have worked diligently to bring new, awe-inspiring confectionaries to life. Nubia and her team led the creation of the spooktacular Oogie Boogie sculpture located in the lobby of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. The tasty masterpiece, constructed of 220 pounds of rice cereal, features Oogie along with his 4-foot tall cauldron.
